Harambee Youth Kenya is a community-based organization committed to transforming and empowering underserved communities through collective youth-led action.
We support communities to break cycles of poverty, exclusion, and vulnerability by equipping young people with the skills and opportunities to lead transformation. When youth become decision-makers, innovators, and catalysts of change, families grow stronger, local economies improve, and entire communities become more resilient.
We partner across the public, private, and social sectors to deliver best-in-class services and support community-driven initiatives that strengthen resilience, opportunity, and long-term development.
What We Do
Our Key Focus Areas
Our work is anchored in six core focus areas that allow us to deliver high-impact, youth-driven, and community-centered solutions across Kenya. Each focus area contributes to building resilient, empowered, and thriving communities.
1. Economic Empowerment
We strengthen livelihoods by equipping youth and households with financial skills, income-generating opportunities, entrepreneurship training, and access to microenterprise support to build long-term economic resilience.
2. Education Access & Literacy
We expand learning opportunities by improving access to quality education, enhancing literacy, supporting school infrastructure, and ensuring that underserved children and youth get financial assistance to stay and complete school.
3. Clean Water Access & WASH
We enhance the quality of life by increasing access to clean and safe water, strengthening sanitation and hygiene practices, and supporting community-led WASH infrastructure to reduce waterborne diseases.
4. Environmental Care
We support environmental restoration through tree planting, climate resilience initiatives, waste management education, and youth-led environmental conservation projects that protect ecosystems for future generations.
5. Health Care Access
We improve community well-being by supporting access to essential health services, strengthening local health systems, and promoting preventive care, maternal health, and youth-friendly health services.
6. Drug Addiction Recovery
We provide pathways to healing and reintegration through youth-centered recovery programs, community awareness, counseling support, and partnerships that help young people overcome addiction and rebuild their lives.
